Department of Tissue Engineering and Applied Cell Sciences was established in 2013 to advance education and research in the field of tissue engineering as well as the discovery and clinical application of cell therapies to treat human disease. The multidisciplinary nature of tissue engineering and applied cell sciences has enabled integration of various fields such as clinical and biological sciences, nanotechnology, and mechanical engineering in the department.
Accelerated translation of the basic and medical knowledge to clinical practice to restore and support the function in defective or impaired tissues/organs and development of the cell therapy products are the main priority of the department. The department offers Tissue Engineering and Applied Cell Sciences PhD programs which admit candidates from different majors in biomedical sciences and engineering.
