1- The SBMU Research Institute for Dental Sciences (RIDS) Lab & Services

The SBMU RIDS (Research Institute for Dental Sciences) is equipped with several specialized and separate labs, including Dental materials Lab, Molecular Biology Lab, Cell Culture Lab, and Histology Lab, as well as the ability for performing researches in several medical and biological branches, especially in dental sciences, is ready to collaborate with researchers in various fields including dental biology, tissue engineering, dental materials, and molecular researches. The services rendered by the SBMU RIDS also include extraction, and culture of different cells, especially stem cells, and stem cell differentiation, genetic and protein investigations, performing histological and histo-pathological tests, and also immunological analyses.

  • The services rendered by the SBMU RIDS labs are listed as follows:
  1. Extraction, culture, and storage of different cells;
  2. Studying stem cell differentiation in various levels;
  3. Studying qualitatively gene expression under RT_PCR method;
  4. Studying quantitative gene expression under Real-Time PCR method;
  5. Studying qualitatively protein count under Western Blot method;
  6. Studying quantitatively protein count under ELISA method;
  7. Investigating protein presence under Immuno-fluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry methods;
  8. Preparing tissue sections, and performing histological and histo-morpho-metric analyses  
  • The services rendered by the SBMU RIDS Dental Materials Lab are listed as follows:
  1. Calculating preferred distances by direct observation, or by software;
  2. Performing Compression test;
  3. Conducting Macro-Shear test;
  4. Conducting Macro-Tensile test;
  5. Performing Load Cell: 2.5 KN-20KN;
  6. Calculating compression under Vicker’s method;
  7. Calculating compression based on the amount and time-period used;
  8. Performing Micro-Tensile test;
  9. Conducting Micro-Shear test;
  10. Performing calibration based on the desired solution and various solution pH
